82days

This project is about the 82days I spent in South Korea in August-October 2009. Four prints and the book were a part of Pekka Halonen Academy graduation exhibition at Kaapelitehdas in Helsinki 21st of April - May 7th 2010. You can download a PDF about the project here.

"In the morning my neighborhood is asleep. I walk along the quiet streets to buy some seaweed and fresh tofu.

It's +40 degrees centigrade. I can feel the heat through the soles of my shoes. Businessmen rush in their black suits, all day, everyday, until the night. I buy a bag of tangerines from a pickup truck and it comes with a Korean lesson: "Don't you understand? Sam chon won, three thousand won."

I hop over chilis drying in the alley and escape the heat down to the subway. On the bridge between Hapjeong and Dangsan I marvel at the Han river shimmering in the sun. This moment sums up my love for the city. The subway, the river running through the city, the bridges and the endless cityscape. Seoul, my second home"".
